The Project “Visamo House” Information:

A Homecoming Shaped by Light, Nature, and Cultural Memory

Situated in the prestigious neighborhood of Naranpura, Ahmedabad, Visamo House by Prashant Parmar Architect is conceived as a serene and deeply personal retreat for a young NRI couple returning to India after 15 years in the United States. Spanning a 7,330 sq ft plot with 10,000 sq ft of built-up area, the residence translates their desire for rootedness, modern comfort, and emotional connection into an architectural experience defined by openness, biophilic integration, and timeless materiality.

Speaking with Luxury Houses Magazine, architect Prashant Parmar recalls the starting point of the design:
“The clients wanted a home that felt unmistakably Indian, yet contemporary in spirit. Visamo became our way of reinterpreting tradition through light, volume, and material warmth.”

A Courtyard That Breathes Life Into the Home

At the heart of Visamo lies a dramatic triple-height central courtyard, inspired by the archetypal Indian chowk. Lush with a fragrant Champa tree and anchored by a calm waterbody, this courtyard is the spatial and emotional nucleus of the residence. It organizes circulation, frames vertical connections, and bathes the interior in natural light.

The courtyard also operates as a microclimate engine—drawing breezes, enabling stack ventilation, and allowing the home to breathe without mechanical dependence.

Parmar explains to Luxury Houses Magazine: “We didn’t want a courtyard that was simply decorative. It had to perform, heal, and harmonize. The Champa tree symbolizes both remembrance and renewal—a meaningful anchor for the family’s return to India.”

Responding Logic to Climate and Context

The design emerged from a thoughtful response to the site’s conditions. Flanked by neighboring bungalows to the east and north, the architects strategically positioned service zones, pergolas, and filtered openings to maintain privacy. Meanwhile, the South and West sides—open to sun, breeze, and sky—were treated as the primary façade.

Here, cantilevered balconies, terrace gardens, deep overhangs, and generous openings create a dynamic façade that captures daylight while softening heat gain. The result is a residence that remains cool, airy, and filled with natural illumination throughout the year.

Materiality Rooted in Earth, Craft, and Endurance

The exterior palette establishes a sense of grounded elegance:

  • Grey rammed earth cladding for tactility and thermal comfort
  • WPC wooden planks for warmth and low maintenance
  • Stone-crete textures for durability and visual richness

This layered composition creates a striking yet harmonious presence along the street.

Inside, the design transitions to a softer palette of Italian marble, warm earthy textures, natural materials, and crafted details. The interiors never rely on excess; instead, they convey refinement through proportion, light, and purposeful composition.

Spaces Crafted for Living, Ritual, and Retreat

Every space in Visamo House reflects dual intent—functional clarity and emotional resonance.

Living & Drawing Room

Bright, welcoming, and designed for social gatherings, the drawing room maintains a dignified minimalism anchored by tactile materials and lush outdoor views.

Pooja Space

Placed strategically near the courtyard, the pooja space offers a serene, contemplative environment connected to filtered daylight and the sound of water.

Jacuzzi Area & Home Theatre

These zones introduce leisure and wellness, crafted as immersive retreats that contrast the open, luminous central areas.

Bedrooms with Balconies & Terraces

Every bedroom is paired with a private balcony, while landscaped terraces dissolve the boundary between interior and nature.

Biophilic Philosophy at the Core

Green terraces, open courts, waterbodies, and natural ventilation systems weave nature into everyday living. Plants are not ornamental but integral—shaping microclimates, providing shade, and framing outlooks.

As the architect shared with Luxury Houses Magazine: “Visamo is ultimately a biophilic home. Nature becomes a companion—cooling, grounding, and nurturing the spaces at every level.”
