Embracing a Philosophy of ‘Liquid Architecture’
BDP-18011 is more than a residential project—it’s a spatial manifesto. Conceived by Palomino Arquitectos, this bold residence located in Cala Vinyes, Mallorca, translates the studio’s belief in “liquid architecture” into a built form that ebbs and flows with its environment. Architect Alejandro Palomino explains to Luxury Houses Magazine, “We wanted the house to feel as though it was born from the sea breeze and the movement of the island’s terrain—always flowing, never static.”
From the moment one approaches the asymmetrical fence adorned with overhanging planters and vertical steel ribs, it’s clear this house defies conventional boundaries. This striking entry sets the tone for a journey defined by discovery and a strong dialogue between architecture and nature.
Textures Inspired by the Majorcan Landscape
The façade itself is a visual ode to Mallorca’s mountainous backdrop. Cast in fair-faced concrete with a tone that mimics natural rock, the structure seems to rise organically from the land. “Instead of imposing a shape, we sculpted it,” says Palomino. “This finish was our way of letting the house speak the same language as the cliffs and coves of the island.”

This contextual sensitivity is carried throughout the design, including the lower level bedrooms, which open directly onto the garden. Large frameless glass windows not only dissolve the division between inside and out but also create a contemplative experience enhanced by the gentle sounds of cascading water from the main pool.
Sculptural Complexity in the Upper Forms
The upper floor of BDP-18011 appears to defy gravity, with trapezoidal and cantilevered volumes thrusting into space. The team faced significant structural challenges to achieve this dramatic effect. “We wanted to create a sense of organized chaos,” Palomino shares. “From a distance, the house looks composed and linear. But up close, it reveals these shifting geometries that invite curiosity.”

A cantilevered infinity pool lined with slate becomes a central sculptural element, visually stitching the house to the Mediterranean Sea beyond. Its position—just above the lower terraces—reinforces the floating aesthetic of the upper forms.
Seamlessness Between Indoor and Outdoor Realms
A core element of the design is the seamless integration of exterior and interior. Materials such as slate, Mallorcan stone, and fair-faced concrete continue uninterrupted between thresholds, while terraces blur the edge of built and natural environments. “Every decision was about continuity,” says Palomino. “The structure doesn’t dictate the experience; it frames it.”

This attention to fluid transitions continues with the spatial planning. The upper-level modules are arranged to frame views and encourage movement. What might seem static in photos is, in reality, a home that unfolds like a narrative—with moments of openness, privacy, and surprise.

A Residence Rooted in Artistic Precision
BDP-18011 is not just a home—it is a sculptural experience. The architectural vocabulary draws from abstraction and natural form simultaneously. “We imagined the building as a geological formation carved by light and water,” Palomino tells Luxury Houses. “Each cantilever, each reflection, is part of that artistic language.”

At its core, the residence represents an architectural mindset that values harmony over dominance. Through bold structural moves and quiet material gestures, Palomino Arquitectos has shaped a living environment that feels timeless and connected.
