Architecture Design of Mamurbaba House

Description About The Project

Mamurbaba House by Bago Architecture, located in the picturesque town of Cesme, Izmir, is a masterful blend of contemporary design and Mediterranean charm. The residence, spanning 500 m² across three levels, consists of two intersecting volumes strategically positioned on the Northeastern corner of a 1,400 m² site. The home features 6 bedrooms, 6 bathrooms, 2 kitchens, and 2 living rooms, designed to maximize views of the Aegean Sea while ensuring privacy within its densely developed surroundings.

The design of Mamurbaba House draws from the orientation of a rectangular block, which is elevated and divided to create a dynamic interplay between indoor and outdoor spaces. A key design element is the terrace, formed by the split and twisting of the lower block, which directs attention to the olive trees and the swimming pool while shielding the home from neighboring properties. The seamless integration of reinforced concrete and steel systems allows the upper floor to float elegantly above the terrace, nestled within a lush Mediterranean garden.

Inside, the home’s layout distinguishes between private and communal areas. The primary bedrooms are located on the upper level, offering serene views of the sea and olive trees, while the communal spaces on the ground floor revolve around the central dining area, terrace, and pool. The dining area serves as the home’s focal point, linking the interior spaces with the outdoor environment through extensive glass façades that blur the lines between inside and out.

Mamurbaba House’s sleek, minimalist design is defined by a sharp contrast between materials and textures. Black aluminum mullions, white plaster façades, and vertical wooden cladding create a striking juxtaposition against the vibrant green landscape. The wooden cladding along the northeastern façade brings warmth to the central dining area, while the pristine white plaster façade on the Southwestern side emphasizes the distinct separation between the upper and lower volumes.

A ribbon window along the first-floor corridor enhances the home’s linear aesthetic while adding depth to the visual experience. The upper floor, perpendicular to the lower level, includes three bedrooms and a private terrace with sweeping views, further elevating the master suite’s grandeur.

With its fluid transitions between communal and private spaces, attention to material detail, and thoughtful orientation towards the landscape, Mamurbaba House embodies a transformative approach to modern Mediterranean living. The design creates a harmonious balance between privacy, connectivity, and natural beauty, resulting in a residence that is both visually captivating and deeply tranquil.
