A Contemporary Residence Designed for Modern Family Living
Conceived as a refined yet welcoming retreat, Montgomery Corner House by MIK Architecture is a generous family residence that balances modern sophistication with everyday comfort. Designed for a large, multi-generational household, the home offers expansive spaces without sacrificing intimacy—an architectural response rooted in light, flow, and connection to nature.

From the outset, the design establishes a sense of calm grandeur. The spatial sequence unfolds gradually, guiding residents and guests through moments of openness, texture, and visual pause.

“Our intention was to design a home that feels expansive, but never overwhelming,” explains a lead architect at MIK Architecture. “Luxury here is about ease, connection, and how the house supports daily life.”

A Double-Height Great Room as the Heart of the Home
Upon entry, a spacious foyer leads directly into a striking double-height great room, instantly creating a feeling of openness and welcome. This central volume acts as the emotional anchor of the house, drawing the eye upward while maintaining a strong visual connection to the surrounding gardens.

A sculptural wine storage installation stands as both an artistic statement and a functional centerpiece, adding a curated layer of personality to the space. Floor-to-ceiling glazing dissolves the boundary between inside and out, allowing natural light to animate the interiors throughout the day.

“Vertical space was essential in giving the home its sense of generosity,” notes the architect. “The double-height volume allows light, air, and movement to shape the experience.”
Seamless Indoor-Outdoor Living and Effortless Entertaining
The right wing of the residence unfolds into the home’s social core, where the family room, dining area, and kitchen flow seamlessly together. At the center, a bold marble kitchen island becomes a natural gathering point—equally suited to casual breakfasts or lively conversations with friends.

Large sliding openings connect the kitchen directly to an outdoor terrace and grill area, transforming entertaining into an effortless extension of everyday living. Whether hosting weekend barbecues or intimate evening dinners, the architecture supports fluid transitions between interior comfort and outdoor enjoyment.

“We wanted the house to feel intuitive,” the design team explains. “Entertaining should feel natural, not staged.”

Wellness Spaces as Part of Daily Ritual
Beyond its social spaces, Montgomery Corner House integrates wellness as an essential component of modern luxury living. A private gym, sauna, and steam shower are discreetly woven into the program, offering residents the ability to unwind and recharge without leaving home.

These spaces reinforce the home’s role as a personal sanctuary—one that supports both physical well-being and mental calm.
“A truly luxurious home supports the rhythm of life,” says MIK Architecture. “Wellness spaces shouldn’t feel separate; they should feel like part of the everyday flow.”
Private Upper-Level Retreats for the Entire Family
Upstairs, the residence transitions into a more intimate and private realm. Three generously sized bedrooms provide comfort and seclusion, with one bedroom opening onto its own private terrace—an elevated retreat overlooking the landscape below.

A cozy family lounge on this level creates a shared space for relaxation, movie nights, or quiet moments together, reinforcing the home’s emphasis on connection as much as privacy.
The primary suite, located within its own wing, is designed as a true sanctuary. A private terrace overlooks the pool and garden, while the spa-like bathroom offers a daily ritual of calm and restoration.
“The primary suite was designed to feel removed from the rest of the house,” the architects note. “It’s a place to slow down.”
A Garden-Centered Lifestyle Anchored by Water
Outdoors, the 65-foot swimming pool becomes the heart of the landscape, anchoring both quiet moments of reflection and vibrant social gatherings. Mature trees and lush planting frame the garden, reinforcing a sense of privacy and tranquility.

Whether enjoying a peaceful afternoon by the water or hosting friends under the open sky, the outdoor spaces feel like a natural extension of the interior—carefully composed, yet effortlessly relaxed.
“The garden was never an afterthought,” says the design team. “It’s an integral room of the house.”
A Home That Balances Scale, Comfort, and Connection
Montgomery Corner House is a thoughtful response to the challenge of designing a large family home that still feels warm and personal. Through open planning, abundant natural light, and a strong relationship with the outdoors, MIK Architecture has created a residence that feels both luxurious and deeply livable.

Modern in expression yet timeless in experience, the home stands as a contemporary sanctuary—one where comfort, connection, and refined living coexist in perfect balance.
