A Coastal Residence Rooted in Balance
Puerto Cancun by SDH Studio Architecture + Design is an architectural statement that celebrates both modern refinement and a profound connection to its coastal surroundings. Rising gracefully on the waterfront, the residence embodies openness, tranquility, and understated elegance.
As the architects shared with Luxury Houses Magazine: “Our vision was to create a home that feels bold yet serene—a house that belongs to the water and the landscape as much as to its residents.”
Stone, Glass, and Organic Geometry
From the exterior, the residence strikes a harmonious balance between strength and lightness. Textured stone walls ground the design, while expansive glass panels reflect the surrounding ocean and greenery. Clean, horizontal lines stretch across the facade, guiding the eye toward the horizon.
Vegetation cascades from the upper levels, softening the geometry of the building and weaving nature into the architecture. The earthy tones of the material palette echo the coastal setting, while the broad overhanging roof provides shade, rhythm, and protection.

Light-Filled Interiors and Double-Height Drama
Entering the residence reveals a grand double-height foyer bathed in natural light from a skylight above. The marble-clad walls, with their subtle veining, glow under daylight, while sleek finishes add a contemporary refinement. Transparency is a defining feature, with uninterrupted sightlines that extend toward the terrace and ocean beyond.
In a note to Luxury Houses Magazine, SDH Studio explained: “We designed the interiors as a canvas for light. Every surface, every opening is calibrated to frame not just the view but also the passage of the sun.”
Flow Between Architecture and Landscape
The design of Puerto Cancun fosters a seamless transition between indoor and outdoor living. Expansive terraces open directly to the water, while gardens and planters integrate greenery into circulation spaces. This interplay of architecture and landscape allows the home to breathe with its coastal environment, celebrating both shelter and exposure.
The understated elegance of the residence comes from restraint: bold forms are softened by organic textures, and modern minimalism is complemented by lush vegetation.
As SDH Studio described to Luxury Houses Magazine: “The house is a dialogue between geometry and nature. It is defined by precision, yet it always allows the landscape to take the lead.”

A Masterpiece of Modern Coastal Living
Puerto Cancun is more than a residence—it is a meditation on proportion, materiality, and place. With its stone walls, glass expanses, cascading vegetation, and luminous interiors, the house embodies SDH Studio Architecture + Design’s mastery of contemporary architecture rooted in context.
As the architects concluded: “This project is about living with the horizon. It is a home that celebrates light, water, and nature while offering refuge in its quiet elegance.”
