Architecture as Sculptural Poetry
Set against the lush green backdrop of Dubai Hills, the Dubai Hills Villa by STATE of Architecture redefines modern living through the language of sculptural form. Designed with a deep sensitivity to rhythm, contrast, and clarity, the home is an exercise in bold minimalism—where strong horizontal lines and layered masses shape a calm yet expressive presence.
“We envisioned the villa not as a static object, but as a breathing sculpture that interacts with light and time,” shares the lead architect at STATE of Architecture. “The architecture becomes alive as the day unfolds.”

The villa’s signature aesthetic is achieved through deep overhangs and rhythmic vertical slats that cast ever-shifting patterns of shade and transparency across the walls, allowing the building to evolve naturally with the sun.

A Journey through Layered Spaces
From the first approach, the entry sequence builds a sense of anticipation. Low walls, filtered light, and carefully framed garden views orchestrate a gradual reveal into expansive open-plan living spaces that are intimately connected to gardens, patios, and distant views beyond.
“We wanted the architecture to lead you gently into its heart,” the architect explains. “Each turn, each vista, is a dialogue between the built and the natural world.”

The entire home is laid out with a focus on spatial flow—where transitions between inside and outside feel seamless, and every movement through the house is intuitive and free.

Materiality: Raw, Refined, and Timeless
The material palette strikes a deliberate balance between texture and purity. White stucco and raw in-situ concrete form the structural canvas, contrasted by sleek black vertical slats and expansive full-height glazing. Inside, the interiors maintain this serene dialogue through natural stone flooring, muted tones, and bespoke joinery that quietly enhances the architectural rhythm.

“Materiality was our silent narrator,” notes the architect. “Every surface was chosen to speak subtly, allowing light and shadow to be the main storytellers.”

The refinement is in the details—jointless finishes, shadow gaps, and handcrafted custom elements ensure that every aspect of the home reinforces its sculptural essence without unnecessary ornamentation.
A Continuous Dance of Inside and Outside
Indoor and outdoor spaces in Dubai Hills Villa are conceived not as separate entities, but as a continuous field of experiences. The sunken lounge, terrace, and pool are fully integrated into the home’s open plan, extending the living spaces outward and connecting the occupants to Dubai’s dynamic landscape.
“Architecture is most powerful when it dissolves boundaries,” the architect remarks. “Here, walls don’t confine you—they guide you towards nature.”

As daylight shifts, the villa comes alive with changing moods—morning light filters through the slats with a soft glow, midday brings sharp contrasts, and twilight turns the terraces and gardens into serene retreats. The architecture does not shout; it whispers through proportion, precision, and profound stillness.
