CLM Residence, designed by Raiz Arquitetura, exemplifies contemporary architectural elegance infused with a deep connection to nature. Conceived as a luxurious retreat, this residence reflects the client’s vision of a home that balances relaxation, privacy, and modern convenience while embracing the surrounding landscape.

“With CLM Residence, our goal was to create a space where architecture seamlessly integrates with nature, ensuring a fluid connection between indoor and outdoor environments,” shared Alexandre Ferraz, lead architect at Raiz Arquitetura, in an exclusive conversation with Luxury Houses Magazine.

Fluid Open Spaces for Seamless Living

Upon entering the residence, visitors are welcomed into a spacious open-plan social area, where the living room, dining area, and kitchen are harmoniously interconnected. This fluid layout enhances natural circulation and interaction, with expansive floor-to-ceiling glass panels creating a visual and spatial dialogue between the interior and the lush surroundings.

“The key was to design an open, inviting space while maintaining clear zoning for privacy,” noted Elias Souza, co-founder of Raiz Arquitetura. “By strategically placing service areas behind concealed doors and using landscaping as natural partitions, we achieved an ideal balance of openness and discretion.”

To enhance the home theater’s ambiance, the design employs a darker color palette and a lower ceiling, creating an intimate atmosphere. Above this entertainment hub, a large integrated planter connects the structure to the external landscape, reinforcing the home’s biophilic design philosophy.

Architectural Elegance and Functional Zoning

The residence is thoughtfully divided to ensure privacy while maximizing natural views. At the front, the guest suite and powder room act as a buffer zone, shielding social areas from direct exposure. A wooden walkway with a glass balustrade elegantly links the vertical circulation area between the home’s two levels.

On the upper floor, the private wing houses the bedrooms, offering serene retreats framed by panoramic windows overlooking verdant landscapes. The master suite, situated at the rear, features a grand opening that extends across the entire width, seamlessly blending the bedroom and bathroom with the outdoors. The private balcony’s jacuzzi, when in use, directly connects residents to the surrounding Atlantic Forest, making nature an integral part of the indoor experience.

“We wanted the master suite to feel like a sanctuary, where the transition between built form and landscape is nearly imperceptible,” Ferraz explained to Luxury Houses Magazine.

A Dynamic and Light-Infused Façade

The front façade of CLM Residence presents an architectural masterpiece—a seemingly floating upper block, subtly supported by recessed, slender pillars. This visual effect adds lightness and modernity to the structure.

The upper block is wrapped in dark gray aluminum brise panels, which offer:
✔ Privacy to the bedrooms
✔ Captivating light and shadow effects throughout the day
✔ A dynamic façade that transforms as the panels open and close

A gap in the slab between the garage and living room introduces natural light into an integrated garden while preserving privacy. This slab, adorned with a Tauari wood ceiling, highlights the material contrast and provides a warm, organic texture to the minimalist contemporary design. Extending towards the back of the house, this element seamlessly connects to the veranda shading the social area.

The roof slabs, positioned at varying heights with strategically placed glass inserts, allow abundant natural light to flood the interiors while offering breathtaking views of the Serra do Mar horizon from the upper-floor walkway.

Outdoor Living: A Resort-Like Escape

At the rear of the lot, a lightweight cantilevered slab, supported by pilotis, shelters the leisure and relaxation zones. Here, low-profile furniture is arranged to ensure unobstructed views of the forest, crafting an inviting retreat for contemplation and connection with nature.

The pool, positioned along the side of the property, extends into a reflecting water feature that connects seamlessly with the veranda. Its infinity edge enhances the seamless transition between the built environment and the landscape, culminating at the spa, which is elegantly sheltered beneath a translucent roof.

“Water and landscape elements were fundamental in shaping the residence’s character,” remarked Souza. “Our design allows residents to fully immerse themselves in nature while enjoying the comforts of luxury living.”
