The Project “Enchanted Point House” Information:

A Floating Sanctuary Amidst 200 Feet of Water

Located on a dramatic radial lot in Miami, Florida, Enchanted Point is a sculptural single-family residence designed by SDH Studio Architecture + Design. Surrounded by over 200 feet of shimmering water, the house is more than a home—it’s an architectural composition that orchestrates light, structure, and landscape in seamless dialogue.

SDH Studio envisioned the residence as a “multilayered structure floating above the water,” where each space would have its own intimate connection to the surrounding seascape. “The site demanded a design that wasn’t just about maximizing views, but about framing them with purpose,” architect Stephanie Halfen told Luxury Houses Magazine. “We wanted every moment inside the home to feel like a curated interaction with nature.”

Experiential Flow and Courtyard Connection

From the moment of arrival, the journey through Enchanted Point is choreographed with a cinematic quality. A warm, private entry leads into a lush, glass-framed interior courtyard—an oasis of calm that blurs the line between architecture and landscape. This threshold space sets the tone for the home’s interior sequence, inviting natural light and layered views into the foyer and beyond.

The house flows effortlessly from one volume to another, connecting social zones with private quarters through transitional corridors and transparent thresholds. “We played with compression and expansion—tight spaces followed by generous double-height volumes—to create rhythm,” Halfen explained in her conversation with Luxury Houses Magazine.

Sculptural Rooflines and Light-Infused Interiors

One of the residence’s most striking features is the butterfly-shaped sloped roof crowning the double-height social area. This expressive canopy opens outward, capturing expansive views of the water and allowing daylight to cascade through clerestory windows. The geometry is both functional and poetic—channeling breezes and directing rain while shaping the identity of the home.

Natural materials and textures were selected with restraint to emphasize spatial fluidity. Smooth concrete, warm wood accents, and floor-to-ceiling glass create an atmosphere that is at once modern, serene, and responsive to the tropical climate.

Private Wings and the Play of Shadow and Silence

In contrast to the open, dynamic public areas, the private wing of Enchanted Point offers moments of stillness and introspection. A corridor lined with slim vertical windows filters light throughout the day, animating the walls and floors with shifting patterns of shadow. “We wanted the transition to the bedrooms to feel like a meditative procession,” said architect. “Light was our material here—sculpted by the rhythm of the windows.”

Each bedroom enjoys a carefully calibrated balance between openness and seclusion, with views framed like paintings and finishes chosen to foster retreat and rest. The design’s commitment to privacy is underscored by subtle separations in elevation, rooflines, and glazing.

Integration with Nature and the Community

The home’s landscaping extends the architectural language into the site, with native plantings and water features creating microclimates of reflection and calm. SDH Studio’s decision to preserve natural contours of the radial lot and minimize hardscaping aligns with Miami’s growing demand for environmentally conscious design.

Luxury Houses reached out to the homeowners to learn more about their inspiration and experience, but they respectfully declined to comment. However, Halfen shared, “They were deeply involved in the design process. For them, this home was not just about living—it was about reconnecting with nature in a meaningful way.”
