Architecture Design of Izinga House 2
Description About The Project
Izinga House 2 designed by Bloc Architects, for a passionate collector of fine automobiles, gourmet experiences, and luxurious entertaining. The house redefines modern living with a dynamic interplay of structure, light, and materiality. The residence is composed of three distinct layers: a solid subterranean base, a concrete middle section, and a lightweight steel-framed upper floor. This layering creates striking architectural elements, including a dramatic 5-meter cantilevered entrance, expansive covered patios, and lush green roofs.
Far more than a typical basement, the lower level serves as an immersive entertainment zone, seamlessly integrating a private showroom for an extensive car collection with a sophisticated bar, wine cellar, media lounge, and billiards area. The ground floor, dedicated to private living spaces, houses bedrooms that open onto a landscaped roof garden, blurring the boundary between indoor and outdoor environments. A glass-walled study overlooks a conservation greenbelt to the south, while a pyjama lounge and kitchenette extend onto a shaded outdoor patio. A unique underwater window into the pool infuses the interior with ambient, refracted light, enhancing the home’s tranquil atmosphere.
Breaking convention, the main living spaces are elevated to the top floor to fully capture sweeping ocean and greenbelt views. The kitchen, dining, and lounge areas open onto a sunlit north-facing green roof, entertainment deck, and infinity pool. A clerestory window encircles the entire upper level, maximizing natural illumination and accentuating the floating roofline.
Sustainability and technological innovation are seamlessly integrated into the home. Primarily off-grid, the house features rainwater harvesting, a comprehensive photovoltaic system, and Tesla Powerwall storage. Operable timber screens adjust throughout the day for optimal solar efficiency and privacy. Custom-designed interiors, blending refined craftsmanship with natural materials, create a warm, inviting contrast to the home’s contemporary aesthetic. Through its intricate detailing and forward-thinking design, Izinga House 2 stands as a sophisticated fusion of architectural vision and high-end functionality.
