Description About The Project

Sangdeh Villa, a architectural marvel crafted by AsNow Design & Construct. Situated atop a picturesque terrain, the initial challenge was to expand the existing two-story structure while preserving the breathtaking view, perched seven meters above street level.

The expansion project encompassed an elevator, covered parking, and a janitor’s suite, originating at street level. To seamlessly integrate the structure with the natural landscape, a solid stone base was introduced, harmonizing the four-story building with its surroundings. The removal of the sloping roof not only diminished the project’s volume but also opened up panoramic views of the surrounding nature, fostering a stronger connection with the environment.

A distinctive feature is the emergence of a box from nature’s core, clad in green-blue tiles reflecting the sky and nature’s hues. This box serves as a welcoming entrance, fostering a vertical connection within the project. The façade, adorned with a grid system of beams and columns, elegantly frames the scenic views, seamlessly integrating the new cube into the existing structure.

The physical layout prioritizes public space views, delineated across four levels. The first two levels encompass parking, service boxes, and the janitor’s suite. The third level hosts bedrooms, a living room, and additional service facilities. The fourth level unfolds as a haven of luxury with a reception area, dining room, kitchen, and a sprawling terrace, seamlessly blending the indoors with the mesmerizing outdoors. Sangdeh Villa stands as a testament to architectural finesse, where expansion harmonizes with nature’s beauty.

The Northern part of the building underwent a strategic transformation, enhancing light exposure and creating a bridge to connect with the elevated northern land. The lowered Northern courtyard, adorned with a grid screen, extends into an expansive terrace, providing an inviting space for relaxation.

Text by the Architects: In the design of the Sangde Villa, we faced a two-story building on topography with a beautiful view, which was about 7 meters above the street level. The client requested an expansion of the existing building while minimizing any obstruction to the stunning view. This expansion formed the design concept to include an elevator, covered parking, and a janitor’s suite. The expansion began at street level; in this new situation, we encountered a four-story building that looked out of place in the area. To address the project’s disproportionality, the building was placed on a solid stone base in harmony with its surroundings.
