Architecture Design of The Burrow House

Description About The Project

The Burrow House designed by Ward + Blake Architects is a contemporary post and beam residence nestled on a Wyoming hillside. This architectural marvel strategically situates itself just above farmable land, preserving the agricultural essence of the property.

Featuring expansive roof overhangs, the house boasts upper decks for outdoor entertainment, providing shaded havens that strike a passive solar balance between seasonal extremes. The low-slope roof seamlessly integrates into the hillside, harmonizing with the community and echoing the natural slope of the site.

Upon entering, a staircase leads to the main social areas, revealing a great room that encompasses the living room, dining area, and kitchen. Tongue and groove cedar ceilings, polished concrete floors, concrete countertops, and maple trim define an interior that exudes simplicity and sophistication.

Exposed structural connections and custom finished steel fireplace panels inject personality into the house’s simplicity. The kitchen showcases light wood cabinets, colored glass backsplash, concrete countertops, and stainless steel appliances.

The bedrooms offer intimate spaces, with sitting areas and fireplaces, highlighting the structural wood beams. Bathrooms feature dual vanities, custom closets, and thoughtfully designed showers, ensurie comfort and functionality.

Experience the perfect blend of modern elegance and sustainable living at The Burrow House, where architectural finesse meets environmental consciousness.

Text by the Architects: A modern post and beam home they completed in Wyoming, that’s been placed on a hillside, just above a farmable portion of the site to preserve the ongoing agricultural use of the property.

The home has generous roof overhangs that capture the outdoor entertainment areas of the upper decks and provide shading for a passive solar balance between the seasonal extremes of summer and winter.
