Architecture Design of Alagado House
Description About The Project
Alagado House by Michel Macedo Arquitetos emerges as a harmonious addition to this evolving environment, nestled along the channel of the Iguaçu River, where the landscape has been subtly transformed by the presence of hydroelectric plants. Situated in Nova Prata do Iguaçu, within the floodplain of the Salto Caxias hydroelectric plant, the house respects the riverbank’s setback, strategically occupying the highest terrain elevation. To seamlessly adapt to the natural slope, the house features a divided access, with two distinct half levels.
The lower level nestles part of the living area, offers a sheltered and cozier ambiance. Above it, the private quarters take center stage, elevated above the ground and separated by a visual slit that gracefully bridges the water’s edge and the dwelling. A gently sloping ramp on the side, lead beneath a generous cantilever. Also, provides direct access to both the house and the riverbank. This design element establishes an unencumbered connection between the street and the surrounding landscape, erasing the conventional boundaries of the structure.
On the other hand, a more intimate and formal access is accessible via a staircase, akin to traditional homes. The design embraces a modular system to efficiently organize the structure and allocate spaces. Such as the bedrooms aligned in a precise rhythm. This approach underscores the potential for precise and rational architectural solutions, incorporating industrialized and replicable elements.
The house boasts expansive glass openings throughout its interiors, invite ample natural light, which can be completely transparent, gently filtered through wooden brises, or fully shielded by external shutters. In addition to this, the design prioritizes natural cross ventilation. Also, facilitated by the presence of an internal garden and strategically positioned openings parallel to one another.

The Alagado House Gallery:
Text by the Architects: Along the Iguaçu River channel, several hydroelectric plants were built over the years, and as a result, large areas of land were flooded and the natural landscape was modified. The result: an increase in leisure and contemplation tourism. The project for the House Alagado aims to be a positive part of this scenario and is located in Nova Prata do Iguaçu, in the floodplain of the Salto Caxias hydroelectric plant. Respecting the setback from the riverbank, the construction occupies the highest portion of the land and, to better adapt to the slope, divides its access into two half-levels. .
