Architecture Design of House of the Valley

Description About The Project

House of the Valley by David Macias Arquitectura & Urbanismo nestled in the scenic Sopo Valley, redefines suburban living by embracing the natural beauty of its surroundings. Designed to maximize views of the valley from every room, this conically shaped lot posed a unique architectural challenge. The solution lies in a staggered bar typology that seamlessly integrates private and social spaces across two levels.

At the heart of the design is a striking double-height space that connects the floors with a bridge and central fixed point. Above, a roof canopy invites abundant natural light year-round, offering a passive bioclimatic solution for optimal comfort. Every architectural element—from expansive windows to carefully placed openings and porticoes—frames the valley, transforming each room into a tranquil retreat for contemplation and connection with the landscape.

Crafted with natural materials like wood, clay, and concrete in neutral tones, the home reflects a contemporary reinterpretation of the traditional country house. It achieves a harmonious balance between modern aesthetics and the timeless beauty of its natural environment.

The House of the Valley Gallery:

Text by the Architects: This suburban-type house, located on the Sopo valley, responds to the multiple landscape determinants of the environment and its implementation. Its challenge is established together with the architectural program where on a narrow, conical-shaped lot, apart from the social areas, the main view of all the bedrooms (4 in total) had to look towards the Valley, this being the main requirement of spatial distribution for the design.
