A Living Metaphor of Intimacy and Space
Designed by KanLan architects Kamran Heirati and Tallan Khosravizadeh, Villa Hayat-Khaneh is a modern interpretation of a house that embodies the essence of intimate living. Located in South Khazarshahr, Mazandaran Province, Iran, this architectural masterpiece creates a dynamic interplay between voids, volumes, and light.
The villa’s entrance serves as its beating heart, where four exterior voids intersect, seamlessly linking all living spaces. The architects conceptualized the design as a fluid sequence of indoor and outdoor experiences, fostering a profound connection with nature and the surrounding Caspian Sea climate.

Adapting to the Caspian Sea Climate
Living in Northern Iran, next to the Caspian Sea, requires a thoughtful response to a distinct climatic setting—one shaped by humidity, shifting light, and coastal breezes. In this context, exterior spaces become as significant as indoor spaces, offering protection while maximizing comfort.

“The relationship between nature and habitation is at the core of our design philosophy,” shared the KanLan design team in an interview with Luxury Houses Magazine. “Every space is an extension of another, dissolving the traditional barriers between inside and out.”

Privacy, Simplicity, and Spatial Integrity
The architectural language of Villa Hayat-Khaneh reflects three fundamental principles: simplicity, integrity, and privacy—elements that define contemporary lifestyles in Northern Iran. The villa’s edge platforms, despite privacy concerns, serve as a catalyst for integrating interior and exterior spaces, allowing residents to enjoy both seclusion and openness simultaneously.
