Architecture Design of Three Times House

Description About The Project

Three Times House by Carolina Penna Architects, located in the exclusive Porta de Sol condominium in São Roque, Brazil, is a thoughtfully designed family retreat that seamlessly integrates with its natural surroundings. Spanning 500 square meters, the home unfolds in layers, gradually revealing a series of interconnected spaces that blend with the landscape. Inspired by the concept of “three times,” the design creates a fluid transition between shared family moments, individual reflection, and personal experiences, ensuring both social interaction and privacy.

Set against a backdrop of small valleys and streams, the home’s design is shaped by the land’s natural topography. The entrance at street level opens to reveal a sprawling interior that follows the natural slope of the land. A central passage connects various areas of the house, guiding residents on a journey of discovery. Social spaces are located on the first plateau and are linked through expansive glass doors that open to panoramic views of the surrounding nature. This transparency between indoors and outdoors invites a constant interaction with the environment, enhancing the sense of openness and tranquility.

The house respects the topography, adapting organically to the varying elevations. Social areas blend together, creating a harmonious flow between interior spaces and the outdoor terrace, which overlooks the pool and gardens. Below, the private area houses five suites, each designed for comfort and functionality, including a master suite with a home office and a children’s suite with bunk beds and a play area.

Thanks to the steep slope of the land, a games room and music studio are tucked under the private wing, meeting the client’s passions. At the edge of the preserved forest, a sand court provides an additional space for outdoor activities, further integrating leisure with nature. The design maximizes natural light and cross ventilation, utilizing patios and gardens to create a light-filled, pleasant atmosphere throughout the home. The expansive terrace, offering a view of the preserved forest, becomes a perfect spot for contemplation and relaxation.
