Architecture Design of Ferry Road House

Description About The Project

The Ferry Road House, designed by Blaze Makoid Architecture, poses a thrilling challenge for a 7,500 square foot residence nestled on a scenic two acre waterfront lot in North Haven. The primary objective was to craft a design that optimizes the captivating views spanning Sag Harbor to the Southeast. While effectively channeling the late day sun through the house and onto various outdoor entertaining spaces for extended enjoyment.

Once visitors approach the house, they pass beneath a second floor bedroom wing, marking the ceremonial ‘threshold’ leading to an inviting open air courtyard. Here, the magic of the home unfolds as one’s gaze sweeps through a 1 ½ story glass great room, revealing enchanting vistas of the patio spaces, pool, and the tranquil harbor beyond.

The great room boasts impressive floor to ceiling, wall to wall glass panels that ingeniously open on both sides, seamlessly blend indoor and outdoor living. This thoughtful design allows the courtyard to serve as an expansive entertaining area, perfect for hosting large events and gatherings. In order to ensure uninterrupted views from the second floor spaces, a roof deck and outdoor fireplace were thoughtfully placed over the one story wing, create an ideal spot for relishing late day and early evening sunsets.

Within the house’s luxurious expanse, residents enjoy eight bedrooms, eight and a half baths, a gym, an office, a family room, and multiple outdoor spaces. The exterior is a stunning fusion of limestone panels, teak, and glass, accentuating the home’s sophisticated elegance while harmonizing beautifully with its natural surroundings. The Ferry Road House epitomizes a modern, stylish, and seamlessly integrated living experience.

In addition to this, on the second floor, a roof deck and outdoor fireplace form a second living room, which connects to the backyard via hidden stairs.
