Architecture Design of N-6 House

Description About The Project

N6 House is nestled within the prestigious gated community of Los Ríos de Chicureo, Chile, occupying a corner lot that gently slopes towards the West. This residence is distinguished by its bold design and architectural elegance, crafted primarily from steel and concrete to fully utilize the open space of its terrain.

The house features a rectangular first-floor volume that houses the public areas, strategically positioned parallel to the western boundary. Above it, a larger second-floor volume is placed perpendicular to the first, containing the private bedrooms. This arrangement creates a unique suspended effect, allowing a visual passage from the entrance to the garden, enhancing the home’s sense of openness and lightness.

A defining element of the N6 House is its central staircase, a key architectural feature that supports the suspended upper volume. This structure is reinforced by a series of beams extending from the walls, which support both the second floor and the roof. The exposed concrete walls of the staircase emphasize its structural strength and importance, while a large interior planter with an Acer Palmatum tree, bathed in natural light from above, adds a serene and meaningful atmosphere to the space.

The western facade of the house is fully enclosed, designed to ensure privacy and control sunlight through vertical breaks, providing both security and solar protection. In contrast, the eastern facade is entirely transparent, adorned with a metal beam that runs like a ribbon along its length, adding visual interest while large windows frame stunning views of the surrounding mountains and green spaces.

Inside, N6 House is defined by its open, continuous spaces, with wood ceilings extending through all common areas, contributing warmth and reinforcing the visual flow of the open-concept design. The home’s aesthetic is further enhanced by the contrast between its black metal facades, exposed concrete walls, and stone cladding with the warmth of wood louvers and ceilings, achieving a harmonious balance of sobriety and elegance.
