Pearl Bay Residence, designed by Gavin Maddock Design Studio nestled on the west coast, just 90 kilometers north of Cape Town and bordered by a nature reserve along the ocean, this pristine contemporary home offers an unparalleled coastal living experience. Designed by Gavin Maddock to fully embrace the breathtaking ocean vistas and harmonize with the coastal dune landscape, the residence sits majestically atop a front dune, providing panoramic views from virtually every room.

The client’s vision for a holiday home that would eventually become a retirement retreat was realized through a meticulously crafted design that seamlessly integrates modern architecture with the natural surroundings. Spanning 600 square meters, the double-storey structure boasts three bedrooms, four bathrooms, expansive living and dining areas both indoors and outdoors, a gallery, casual living room, study, decks, terraces, and balconies, all thoughtfully designed to capture the essence of coastal living.

Constructed with cavity brick and finished with white plaster walls, the home exudes a minimalist elegance that pays homage to the simplicity of the Mediterranean aesthetic. Verticality is emphasized throughout the design, with tall windows slicing through the facade and off-form concrete floor slabs adding to the sense of height and space.

Inside, custom-designed furniture and carefully curated decor complement the clean lines of the architecture, creating a cohesive and inviting atmosphere. Floor-to-ceiling sliding doors seamlessly connect the interior living spaces with the outdoors, blurring the boundaries between inside and out.

Striving for maximum views and privacy, the design features strategically placed columns and expansive openings facing the ocean, while still providing shelter from the elements. The result is a modern masterpiece that balances form and function, offering large entertainment areas, luxurious amenities, and unparalleled coastal living
