South Villa is a five-story penthouse located within the award-winning Clifton Terraces apartments on Victoria Road, Cape Town. Perched on the iconic Lion’s Head, it offers extravagant ocean views and vistas of local landmarks such as Table Mountain and Clifton’s pristine beaches. The building’s design mirrors the natural contours of its site, ensuring that the views from neighboring properties remain unaffected or even enhanced.

The interior décor and architecture, conceived by ARRCC and OKHA, draw stylistic inspiration from the Art Deco period’s style moderne movement of the 1920s and 30s. Each apartment seamlessly integrates state-of-the-art technologies into its design, offering 24/7 security, services, and amenities for a lock-up-and-go lifestyle, suitable for summer or year-round living. The home automation system allows almost every aspect of the villa to be remotely controlled and personalized, including the lift, pool, and Wi-Fi.

“What started as a typical interior architecture project quickly evolved into my passion project, focusing on the fusion of global design with South African art and craftsmanship,” says the international client. Collaborating with ARRCC and OKHA to reimagine South Villa’s interior architecture and design felt like a natural choice. The client emphasizes that SAOTA, ARRCC, and OKHA, each leaders in their fields, have created a synergy that elevates their collective skills and strengths.

The building mimics the existing contours of the site, sensitively ensuring that the views from neighboring sites were unaffected or even improved. The interior décor and interior architecture, by ARRCC and OKHA, has stylistic connections to the style moderne movement of the Art Deco period of the 1920s and 30s.
