Architecture Design of Borderless House
Description About The Project
Borderless House is a unique dwelling designed with the needs and values of an elderly couple in mind, prioritizing their love for nature and desire for family connection. Drawing inspiration from traditional Chinese garden design principles and the architectural tectonics of the Barcelona Pavilion, this home transcends conventional boundaries to create an all-encompassing park-like environment.
Comprising sixty fragmented cast-in-situ concrete walls arranged around lush gardens, the house is a harmonious blend of indoor and outdoor spaces. Glass partitions seamlessly divide interior and exterior areas, while expansive ceilings provide shade and continuity. With an emphasis on open spaces and natural ventilation, the design embraces the tropical climate, reducing reliance on air-conditioning and maximizing comfort.
The layout of Borderless House is meticulously planned to optimize the flow of air and light, with concrete walls strategically positioned to shade internal spaces from the sun. Deep overhangs and ample greenery further enhance the connection to nature, inviting inhabitants to meander through the landscape and discover hidden vistas at every turn.
Beyond its physical boundaries, Borderless House seeks to redefine the relationship between architecture and urban space. Offset planters along the perimeter fencing blur the line between public and private realms, inviting pedestrians to engage with the house as an urban park. By challenging traditional building typologies, this innovative design encourages a deeper connection with nature and fosters a sense of community in the built environment.

The Borderless House Gallery:
Text by the Architects: Borderless House is designed for an elderly couple who value nature and family connection. To create a house of garden, traditional Chinese garden design principles are expanded upon to create an all-connected park-like home. The border and relationship between family members are designed so that each room has privacy and is separated from the rest. Yet, the spaces are all interconnected with each other and nature. Besides, the Borderless House references the architectural tectonics of the Barcelona Pavilion.
