Architecture Design of Cliffside House

Description About The Project

Cliffside House is a remarkable home designed by LaRue Architects, recently completed, perched above Lake Austin with endless views, eclectic art and eyepopping color accents. Indeed, to maximize the breathtaking lake views and the surrounding oak trees, the architects incorporated large glass windows that offer transparency from the front to the back of the house. The lot itself sits on a limestone bluff covered by a lush canopy of live oak trees. Navigating the layout around these majestic trees posed a challenge. But the architects skillfully designed a U shaped structure that gracefully embraces the oaks.

Moreover, the house features a modern design using natural materials found in the Texas Hill Country. Locally sourced limestone walls and oak ceilings seamlessly connect the interior and exterior spaces. Patinated copper paneling complements the color of the oak trees and will develop a richer tone over time. The outdoor area boasts a two sided negative edge pool, create a captivating water effect that spills toward the lake.

Once insides, the interior design reflects a comfortable and lively atmosphere. Art pieces by Venezuelan artist Carlos Cruz-Diez and Austin artist Evan Voyles bring cultural references and whimsy to the space. Playful and unexpected elements, such as a hanging chair by Lee Broom and a vintage neon art piece, add elegance and character. Strong color accents, like the green hue of the game room bar, pay homage to the homeowner’s favorite vintage cars.

Overall, the Cliffside House is a true masterpiece that combines breathtaking views, artistic flair, and a joyful ambiance, providing a unique living experience for its residents.
