Costa House designed by Hous3, nestled on the slopes of the Penha Mountains. This extraordinary residence in Guimarães captivates with its privileged location and panoramic views of the city. The intricate interplay of local complexity, topography, and solar orientation inspired the creation of two interconnected rectangles forming an “H” layout, seamlessly integrating with the natural surroundings.

The logical arrangement of the “H” design unfolds into an inviting arrival patio, where volumes articulate and gracefully distance themselves, optimizing the connection with the land, light, and breathtaking views. The house unfolds on two levels, with social spaces and services on the forefront, boasting expansive windows that invite horizontal light, transparency, and captivating vistas.

The higher level is reserved for private and intimate spaces, strategically positioned to capture both light and the scenic landscape. Embracing the search for maximum vertical light, the house extends into a vast exterior patio, where open skies create an immersive experience in the heart of nature. This contemporary haven stands as a testament to thoughtful design, harmoniously blending with its surroundings to offer a unique living experience on the Penha Mountains.

The local complexity, topography and solar orientation, together with the beautiful view of the imposing landscape create the powerful driving forces that we wanted to see reflected in this house.
