Architecture Design of D House
Description About The Project
D House, designed by Lavan Architects, is a remarkable urban oasis for a family of five. Spanning a narrow 225 sqm plot, this residence brings together diverse desires and aspirations. One family member sought a swimming pool for leisurely swims and even surfing practice, while another longed for a lush, untamed natural garden. The older children desired their own individual spaces, while everyone desired a warm and harmonious environment that fostered togetherness.
Hence, to fulfill these aspirations, the architects adopted a unique planning concept. They treated the external fence walls as the actual walls of the house, blurring the boundaries between indoors and outdoors. The main living area is enveloped by floor-to-ceiling glass, allow captivating views of the plot’s borders and seamlessly integrating the surrounding greenery into the interior. This clever design ensures privacy by concealing the house from neighboring buildings while turning the garden and fruit trees into integral architectural elements.
Upstairs, the children have their own front terrace adorned with a railing that combines cables and steel frames. This unique pattern draws inspiration from the decorative styles of Art-Deco and Bauhaus, prevalent in the vibrant cityscape of Tel Aviv. The cables double as climbing support for plants, creating privacy and a sense of the outdoors. The terrace extends over the ground floor, providing shade and shelter from the intense Southern sun, while also allow ample natural light to flood the space and creating a charming outdoor seating area.
Overall, this house masterfully combines the desires of its occupants with innovative design concepts. Also, harmonizing indoor and outdoor spaces while celebrate the beauty of natural elements and materials.

The D House Gallery:
Text by the Architects: In the heart of the bustling city of Tel Aviv, on a 225 sqm, 9 m narrow plot, we created an urban green dream for a family of five. One person wanted a pool to swim in (and practice surfing), another wanted a luscious natural wild garden, the grown up kids wanted their own space, and everyone wanted to create a sense of home and being together. Also, the planning concept of D House was to treat the boundaries of the plot – the external fence walls – as the actual external house walls.
