Architecture Design of Haus S
Description About The Project
Haus S designed by Behnisch Architekten that revisioned to grasp the encompassing woods and quiet slope area while additionally offering city perspectives of Stuttgart from another upper floor. Set up of a twofold pitched rooftop, a straightforward yet organized, open – arrangement floor acknowledged on the house, a building from the 1930s, which had been already revamped in 1990. The compositional thought was to put a purposely unpretentious structure upon the current building. The second floor expansion remains as opposed to the monstrous lower level without ruling it. Hence, making a point of convergence for the house by means of gigantic coating and without exasperating perspectives of the encompassing scene.
The triple-glazed façade trimmed in wood framing. Floor to ceiling windows shape the light throughout the upper floor, providing panoramic views and a sense of transparency. In addition to this, exterior metal mesh roller shutters offer a filtered view of the surrounding landscape while protecting interiors from solar overheating.
The top floor has its own organization. The approximately 150m² open-plan space zoned by “boxes” – the intimate private rooms used as a dressing room, bathrooms, and a guest room (the only “old” room retained from the original house). In addition to this, a large sliding door divides the upper floor from the master suite and the guest areas with a lounge, inner stairs, a library, and a home office.
On the other hand, an outside staircase, set on a halfway decimated oriel, paves the way to the highest point of the new level rooftop, where another patio is made from timber flooring. Hence, the outcome is a liberal private level that reacts to the slope and gives perspectives of the city.
