Description About The Project

Pearl Valley 334 designed by SAOTAA for young family who seeking a change from city living to a relaxed country lifestyle found their perfect retreat in the exclusive Pearl Valley Golf Estate, just 30 minutes from Cape Town. They enlisted ANTONI ASSOCIATES to create an interior that balances modern design with ‘barefoot luxury’ and embraces natural materials.

The house is centered around a landscaped courtyard with a reflective pond, creating a serene atmosphere upon entry. Crossing a foyer bridge, guests are greeted by wet-walls cascading down ribbon-stone clad feature walls. The formal lounge, with its double-volume cathedral-like space and trussed ceiling, exudes grandeur. A mezzanine study overlooks the formal dining room below, which features a horizontal strip fireplace placed level with the dining table. A stunning hooped-glass chandelier hangs over the waney-edge French oak table, adding a touch of elegance.

The kitchen, seamlessly connected to the central courtyard, features custom-designed soft leather and steel barstools around a central island. A floating stair leads to four en-suite bedrooms.

The family entertainment level opens onto the front terrace and infinity pool, offering various entertainment areas including a TV lounge, indoor grill, and bar adjacent to the courtyard. Floating steps over the reflective pond lead to a decked spa overlooking the pool. The bar area connects to an outdoor “boma,” providing a casual seating area around a fire-pit.

Subtle lighting enhances the warm glow of organic natural finishes, while modern furniture and décor elevate the home’s ambiance. Tactile finishes such as timber, textured leathers, and raw linens add a sense of understated luxury, completing the perfect blend of modern design and natural elements.

Text by the Architects: A young family re-locating to the Western Cape was looking to change from city living to a more relaxed country lifestyle in which to bring up their young family and settled for the exclusive Pearl Valley Golf Estate located near Paarl, just 30 minutes away from Cape Town. The owners approached ANTONI ASSOCIATES to create an interior that was modern but with an emphasis on ‘barefoot luxury’ and the use of natural materials.
