Architecture Design of Casa Bell Lloc
Description About The Project
Casa Bell Lloc, a creation of Studio Saxe, perched atop the scenic hilltown of Santa Teresa in Costa Rica, stands as a testament to innovative tropical architecture. The challenge terrain inspired a unique design approach, sink the private bedroom areas into the ground. While allow the main living spaces to embrace breathtaking panoramic views through floating terraces and a cascading pool.
Concept:
Adapt to the topography, Studio Saxe ingeniously concealed the house within the ground, present a deceptive one story facade from the street. Also, the strategic use of concrete walls shields the structure, orchestrate a dramatic entrance unveiling the pool and the vast ocean panorama beyond.
Design:
The division of public living spaces above and intimate bedrooms below leverages the natural characteristics of the site. On the other hand, ground touching spaces are solid and enclosed, contrast with the open and ephemeral nature of those above ground. Besides, a sweeping roofline safeguards the residence, frame an entrance pool that gracefully extends over the lush jungle.
Sustainability:
Casa Bell Lloc sets a new benchmark in tropical architecture, showcase the extensive use of concrete without compromise basic bioclimatic principles. The design integrates modern, endure materials with tropical design essentials such as extended roof eaves, cross ventilation, and water collection, redefine sustainability in the architectural landscape.

The Casa Bell Lloc Gallery:
Text by the Architects: Studio Saxe was commissioned to design a home perched on the hilltops of the town of Santa Teresa in Costa Rica. Due to the extreme pitch of the terrain, we decided to sink the private areas of bedrooms into the ground and thus allow the main living area to have the best expansive views on top with floating terraces and a pool.
