Architecture Design of Glass House

Description About The Project

Glass House designed by Nico van der Meulen Architects, nestled amidst bespoke glass and concrete. This custom-designed home caters to a bustling family life, boasting a blend of contemporary luxury and expansive living. With four children in mind, the owners commissioned a residence that effortlessly merges grandeur with informal comfort.

The architectural vision, crafted by Nico van der Meulen Architects, unfolds in a horseshoe configuration, centered around a tranquil water feature. The focal point of the design is the seamless integration of indoor and outdoor spaces, facilitated by frameless glass folding doors spanning over 70 meters.

Within its walls, the mansion hosts an array of amenities to suit every need. From intimate tete-a-tete spaces to a sprawling open-plan family room, a dining hall capable of accommodating 20 guests, and a playroom adjacent to the kitchen, every detail caters to the family’s dynamic lifestyle.

The heart of the home is a partially double-volume family room, effortlessly flowing into a lanai and a heated indoor pool. A striking staircase, suspended over a solar-heated pond, leads to six opulent suites, each exuding comfort and style.

Throughout the property, thoughtful touches abound, such as walk-in cold rooms, a billiards room, a home theatre, and a fully-equipped gymnasium. A staff cottage ensures seamless service. While basement parking for 14 cars underscores the estate’s scale and sophistication.

Embracing innovation, the home maintains a constant temperature of 24°C during winter, courtesy of solar heating and heat storage tanks. A circular raised glass water feature, framed by towering beams, adds a touch of architectural flair, eliminating the need for conventional corner columns in the main suite.

In essence, this contemporary mansion transcends the ordinary, offering a harmonious blend of luxury, functionality, and architectural finesse for its discerning inhabitants.
