Architecture Design of House Vista
Description About The Project
House Vista designed by Gottsmann Architects, nestled on a steep hill within the Ebotse Golf Estate in Gauteng, was meticulously designed to embrace its stunning surroundings. Responding to both the site’s topography and the client’s desire for expansive views, Gottsmann Architects crafted a residence aptly named House Vista.
Utilizing concrete as the primary building material, the architects ingeniously leveraged the steep gradient of the site to create dramatic cantilevered overhangs and open spaces. The extensive use of glass sliding doors seamlessly integrates the interior with the exterior, allowing panoramic views of the lake and golf course to permeate throughout the house. The combination of concrete planes and glass facades gives the impression of each level floating, enhancing the sense of spaciousness and connection to the landscape.
The design of the residence is dynamic, with cantilevering concrete slabs revealing ever-changing vistas as one moves through the house. Large sliding doors open up to expansive views, while sliding screens offer varying degrees of privacy, adapting to the needs and mood of the inhabitants.
In terms of product description, composite timber decking played a pivotal role in the external spaces of the project. Used both horizontally for balcony flooring and vertically for screening elements, composite timber decking was chosen for its low maintenance, eco-friendly properties, and resistance to moisture. Specifically designed to withstand Africa’s harsh climate without the need for excessive care, it perfectly complements the modern aesthetic and sustainable ethos of House Vista.
