Architecture Design of Forrest Road House

Description About The Project

Forrest Road House, a masterpiece designed by Nico van der Meulen Architects, nestled in the serene landscape of Inanda. This remarkable residence crafted by Nico van der Meulen Architects stands as a beacon of innovative design and eco-conscious living. With sweeping vistas of the Sandton skyline to the north, this unique home seamlessly blends luxury with sustainability.

Spanning across a 1511 sq.m. plot, the residence is meticulously oriented, facing 15° east of north to optimize natural light and energy efficiency. Upon arrival, guests are greeted by a striking cantilevered porte cochere screen, its floating steel tubes and dark limestone façade setting the tone for the architectural marvel within.

Stepping inside, the home reveals its transparency, offering panoramic views of the multi-level hall, lounge, spa, and pool, seamlessly integrating with the lush garden beyond. The living spaces, adorned with frameless concertina doors, effortlessly extend to the lanai, blurring the boundaries between indoors and outdoors.

Architectural ingenuity is evident throughout, from the LED illuminated staircase to the cantilevered lanai and brise soleil, creating a harmonious blend of form and function. The design prioritizes privacy and comfort, with sliding glass panels concealing the kitchen and bar when not in use, and a skylight-lit catwalk providing a tranquil passage between living spaces.

Sustainability takes center stage with a geothermal system for heating and cooling, rainwater harvesting, and photovoltaic panels powering the home. Even the basement boasts eco-friendly features, with a home theatre illuminated by natural light and overlooking a serene spa.

Every detail speaks of meticulous craftsmanship, from the custom-built kitchen by Dada and imported Italian furnishings to the thoughtful interior design by M Square Lifestyle Design. Truly, this residence is not just a home but a testament to the artistry of sustainable living.
