Description About The Project

House Guaeca II designed by AMZ Arquitetos, situated in a green area in São Sebastião, Brazil that creates constant a indoor – outdoor integration. This house located at the seaside, on the Northern coast of Sao Paulo, in a gated community where wide grassy streets connect the lots to the beach.

On the ground floor, social areas are distributed through an integrated space and a closed block contains the service and barbecue areas. Besides, the second floor holds four suites and a family room. On the other hand, prefabricated wooden structure (CLT – cross – laminated timber) measuring 4.45 x 4.80m, from ITA Construtora, used for the structuring of the house.

In addition to this, the laundry area located opposite the sea view in a closed and more reserved area. Its walls help to ensure privacy to the rest of the house separating it from the street and neighbors nearby. Also, on one side, on the upper floor, located side – hung windows that provide natural light and ventilation into the living room. And on the other side, are located the bedrooms covered by sliding slatted wooden panels. When slid open, they extend the rooms to a small deck facing the ocean and surrounding landscape.

The house built prefabricated wooden structure. The modulation of this structure determines the spaces and is also reflected on the facade, composed of masonry panels, glass and flap wood shutters.

The roof is flat at the ends and has a slope in the center. Hence, it allows hot air to escape and natural light to illuminate the central corridor. This sloped part of the roof also directs solar panels in the correct orientation and covers the boilers, equipments and water tanks.

Text by the Architects: Guaeca House located in a housing complex overlooking the ocean on the coast of the state of São Paulo, Brazil. The lower floor is composed of a single living and dining space surrounded by sliding glass doors that limit the outdoors. Also, they provide an uninterrupted view towards the ocean. And when pulled aside create one expansive terrace space connecting the social area to the pool and garden area.
