JARtB House located on a leafy street in the sought after suburb of Toorak in Melbourne and designed by the international award winning architecture firm Kavellaris Urban Design. Painting and architecture merge in this project, turning PichiAvo’s art into an excellent house, exploring new paths and forms. Indeed, the house presents as a piece of sculpture or an artwork in itself, with a mural spanning the facade of the upper floor and a circular, sawtooth entrance.

Inside the circular, concrete toothed entrance, a gallery space created through a white circulation strip that carries through the lower floor. Also, some works custom designed to fit this space and much of the furniture and interior design doubles as installations. Materials are varied, with concrete and steel playing a key role in the palette, as well as custom timber floor and wall panelling by Made by Storey.

In addition to this, the program of this house arranged over three storys on a long, slender site in the melbourne suburb of toorak. Residents enter through the circular concrete door into the first floor level, which houses the main social functions. From the entrance, a long gallery like corridor leads into an open plan kitchen and a double height dining and living area. Then, this space opens out to an elegant outdoor pool and dining area. Three bedrooms with en suite bathrooms are contained on the second floor. Also, this house incorporates a much smaller basement floor. On this subterranean level, residents can relax in a cozy theater room. there’s also a spare bedroom and bathroom for guests who come to stay.

Without a doubt, designed to reflect ideas from the Baroque era, this is a unique home that elevates architecture and interior design to the realm of fine art.

The JARtB House Gallery:

Text by the Architects: JARtB House reconnects the abandoned notion that Art and Architecture are separate, techne. Part House and part Art Gallery, the synthesis of the two typologies are redefined into a singular expression. A new hybrid is institutionalized
