Architecture Design of N16 House
Description About The Project
N16 House designed by Gruta.Arquitetos showcases the first architectural insight aimed to realize this dream by aligning the program’s components along a longitudinal axis on the right side of the property. While gracefully opening up the social quarters to the untouched expanse on the left. The corner location provided a unique opportunity, free from neighboring structures on one side.
The second design revelation dictated the placement of the kitchen and barbecue area, strategically nestled in the rear of the property, adjacent to the social zones. This transversal axis seamlessly linked various functional spaces.
In response to the couple’s evolving needs, a third design transformation emerged, driven by the demand for a spacious home office tailored to accommodate their professional and academic endeavors. Born during the 2021 pandemic, this adjustment relocated the office to an upper level. Also, affording panoramic landscape views and a clear separation from the social activities on the ground floor.
In the project’s final stages, a fourth design solution was refined, focusing on the overall aesthetics. The structure was conceived to present two distinct facades to the world. The primary solid volume abutted the garage wall, while the office was sculpted to create a wooden gallery with east and west vistas, in tandem with a concrete block housing a terrace adorned with lower ceiling heights than the living spaces.
With a selection of understated finishes, House N16 becomes a neutral backdrop that eloquently accommodates the couple’s worldly treasures, each with a story to tell.

The design solution with a higher purpose was to consolidate the program’s compartments along a longitudinal axis on the right side of the lot and open up the social area to the unused portion on the left side, taking advantage of the corner condition, which allowed for no adjacent buildings on that side.
The owner’s dream was to seamlessly blend a private sanctuary housing 3 suites with interconnected social and leisure spaces, all conveniently situated on a single level

The N16 House Gallery:
Text by the Architects: “The lot is flat, with an area of 447m² at a corner.” This is how the land was presented in the first meeting we had with the couple who owns it. A young couple with no children approached our office with a demand for a larger house and a generous relaxation area. The requested program included a private area with 3 suites and contiguous social and leisure areas, all on one floo
