Architecture Design of Veiled House

Description About The Project

The Veiled House designed by Gaurav Roy Choudhury Architects GRCA is strategically situated on a large, elongated site in the heart of the town, running from North to South. Accessible from a bustling bye lane on the North side. Also, connect to the main street, the site benefits from a quieter neighborhood cul de sac on its eastern edge, which serves as its primary entry point. In order to create a tranquil buffer from the busy bye lane, the house thoughtfully pushed towards the Southern end of the site.

The design seamlessly separates the public spaces (living area, kitchen, study, AV room, and pool) along the East side. While the private bedrooms situated on the western side. Besides, capitalizing on the site’s topography, a split level approach elevates the Southern blocks by 3 feet, create a vertical breakdown of the house into more accessible and visually appealing segments.

A defining feature of the house is its ‘faceless’ character, achieved through shifting white walls, known as veils, that offer both shelter and openness in an artful manner. The contrast between the man made fiber of the veils and the vibrant natural surroundings enhances the house’s allure. With an East-West orientation, the house continuously evolves throughout the day and seasons. As the veils serve as a backdrop for the family’s lives and cherished memories. Indeed, the Veiled House truly epitomizes modern living in harmony with nature.
