Architecture Design of Villa Ardjuno
Description About The Project
Villa Ardjuno is a private retreat designed by Jettaliving, perched atop the hill of Ungasan, Bali, to offer a tranquil escape from urban life. The villa’s architecture is meticulously crafted to highlight the panoramic ocean views of Jimbaran Hill, embracing the natural beauty of its surroundings as the focal point of its design. Each bedroom, along with the main living areas, including the kitchen and dining spaces, is oriented to maximize the breathtaking landscape, creating a seamless connection with the stunning Bali scenery.
The design philosophy of Villa Ardjuno revolves around simplicity and harmony with nature. The architectural form is characterized by clean lines and simple geometric masses, conveying a sense of lightness and effortless elegance. The goal is to maintain a humble and timeless aesthetic, allowing the villa to coexist harmoniously with its interior spaces and the natural environment.
The ground floor features a series of open-plan areas, including the living, dining, and kitchen spaces, all designed to blend seamlessly with the outdoors. The four bedrooms are situated on the second floor, each offering expansive views and a direct connection to the serene landscape. Upon entering the main building, visitors are greeted by an isolated courtyard and reflecting pool, leading to a narrow, compressed corridor that heightens the sense of anticipation. This journey culminates in the main living area, where the vast ocean view unfolds, creating an integral and unforgettable experience.
The villa’s design incorporates long-span openings in the living area to capture the hill’s magnificent perspective, allowing residents to relax and contemplate the sun’s movement throughout the day. On the upper floor, the bedroom windows frame portions of the expansive view, offering a unique and mesmerizing experience for each room.
Local Balinese stone is used as a primary material, complemented by beige-textured paint and beige-colored granite to enhance the villa’s natural aesthetic. The interior features mainly oak wood, combined monochromatically to create an atmosphere of lightness, calm, and relaxation.

The Villa Ardjuno Gallery:
Text by the Architects: The Villa Ardjuno is situated atop a hill of Ungasan, Bali. It is a private villa built for a retreat from urban living. The villa is designed to highlight the primary view of the site, which is a vastly wide open ocean facing view of Jimbaran hill down below. With its contextual site location, we imagine that it would be nice if all the bedrooms, and main living area (kitchen and dining too) can benefit from the natural landscape beauty as the primary design feature. From this fundamental notion, the villa architecture work its way to wrap the site context which is to absorb the essence of the site, the natural landscape of Bali ocean facing view.
