Architecture Design of Woorarra House
Description About The Project
Woorarra House renovation project stands as a testament to the seamless integration of tradition and modern luxury in the heart of the picturesque Yarra Valley. This endeavor sought to transform an existing farmhouse into a luxurious family retreat while preserving the charm of the original structure and embracing the breathtaking vistas of the surrounding wineries.
Design Challenges: The primary challenge lay in retaining the existing building footprint while infusing contemporary design elements. The solution involved the innovative transformation of the traditional homestead into a modernized barn, featuring a portal frame inspired by classic barn houses. This concept successfully created a space that was open, airy, and bathed in natural light while preserving the homestead’s character, resulting in a functional yet beautifully picturesque property.
Sustainability Features: The Woorarra House design prioritized sustainability through thoughtful material selection and passive design principles. Local sourcing of natural stone and timber flooring minimized environmental impact, supporting local businesses. Steel Colorbond cladding, known for durability, was chosen for the exterior. The strategic orientation of the building maximized solar absorption, while shading devices and skylights were employed to enhance energy efficiency. The result is a residence that not only prioritizes sustainability but also fosters a healthy living environment for generations to come.
