Architecture Design of Gallery House
Description About The Project
Gallery House, designed by DADA & Partners, is an impressive architectural masterpiece located in India. The house situated on a quarter – acre plot that gradually narrows, allow it to make the most of its frontage, which faces a beautiful green lawn and arrival court. While dealing with the angled rear edge condition, the design prioritizes the placement of all primary rooms towards the North and West, leave the Southern side for service areas.
The movement within the house flows along the North face, create a stretched ‘multilevel gallery’ experience. This gallery like movement also expressed in the facade of the house. On the ground floor, the formal drawing/ dining area and master bedroom mark the beginning and end of this progression, with the family room situated in the middle. Secondary bedrooms, kitchen, and service zones positioned behind this gallery like pathway. On the upper floor, this North facing connection takes on an open and spacious character due to a reduction in programmatic dependencies.
On the other hand, the upper level facade conceived as a transparent linear volume, nestled between a series of masonry envelopes or folds. The use of seasoned hardwood battens helps screen the glazed upper corridor and weaves together the long slab folds that define the volume of the upper floor. This composition, combine white stucco and timber cladding, deliberately contrasts with the heavier visual appearance of the ground floor, which is primarily covered in sand blasted and flamed granite slabs.
The landscape design palette harmoniously echoes the materials used in the facade. The paving and poolside decking covered in rough steel grey granite. While black gravel separates the junctions between the paving and walls. The driveway design employs grey quartzite cobblestones and is intentionally kept understated.

Text by the Architects: Set on a quarter acre, tapering parcel the Gallery House maximises its frontage along the North facing green lawn and arrival court while negotiating the angled rear edge condition. Besides, the ground floor layout positions all primary rooms towards the North and West keeping the South primarily service heavy.
