Architecture Design of Three Trees House
Description About The Project
Three Trees House, designed by DADA & Partners, is a stunning architectural gem located in India. The house divided into two main blocks: the front block and the rear block. The front block houses the public functions of the house, such as the entry lobby, drawing room, dining area, and bar. These spaces face a spacious front lawn and a more intimate courtyard. In contrast, the rear block features a large double-height family living room that opens up to the courtyard and pool deck. As well as two bedrooms facing the rear lawn. The upper level of the house includes four bedrooms, a puja room, and a lounge area for the family to gather. Adjacent to the swimming pool, a gym and sauna pavilion completes the sense of enclosure around the courtyard.
Moreover, one of the client’s requirements was a grand and airy formal drawing room that opens up to a garden. This resulted in a magnificent three-sided open space, reaching a height of 20 feet and resembling a lantern. Also, it offers picturesque views of the front lawn on the east and the vibrant poolside on the west.
Surrounded by lush greenery, the landscape design intentionally contrasts with the predominantly solid and monolithic structure. The building facade itself harmonizes with the environment, particularly at the ground level, where large vertically furrowed stone-clad panel walls frame the expansive open spaces. The front and rear lawns remain mostly untouched, with a couple of timeless ficus trees anchoring the surroundings and adding to the house’s charm. Besides, the central courtyard, featuring a reflective pool, an infinity-edged swimming pool, and floating wooden decks, creates a captivating connection with the transparent and foldable entrance of the house. Together, these elements form a harmonious blend of architecture and nature.

The Three Trees House Gallery:
Text by the Architects: Set on a verdant land parcel dotted with large mature trees, the Three Trees House house nestled -much like a fork- between three large trees. The premise for choosing to situate the building amidst the trees was to preserve the existing trees. While enjoying the natural setting in close proximity of the habitable areas. The house conceived as an assembly of two fairly rectangular blocks, the east facing front block and west facing rear one. Both connected by a narrow, transparent, staircase block. The largest tree of the three, a flowering Kachnar (bauhinia), becomes the centerpiece of the courtyard space. The shaded North facing courtyard is further animated with different rooms fronting onto it along with the large overhang canopies providing constant play of light and shade.
