Architecture Design of 6th 1448 Houghton ZM
Description About The Project
6th 1448 Houghton ZM designed by by SAOTA, situated amidst the verdant surroundings of Houghton, Johannesburg. This residence stands as a testament to thoughtful design for a large family. Nestled on gently sloping terrain enveloped by lush trees, the home boasts panoramic vistas from its elevated floors. Divided into two plots with a shared access point, the U-shaped configuration of the houses centers around an inviting interior patio, providing seamless connections to communal areas and a refreshing pool.
A distinguishing feature is the perforated wall delineating service areas from private spaces, while the heart of the home revolves around a central spiral staircase. Strategically positioned living spaces, including the kitchen and a private garden to the north, complement recreational zones like the games room and gym to the west. To mitigate the effects of the sun’s trajectory, specially crafted shutters adorn the west-facing facade, offering both shade and architectural allure.
Upstairs, bedrooms and studios offer tranquil retreats, with the passage to children’s quarters aligned along the distinctive perforated wall. Meticulously curated bespoke furniture by Okha Interiors, adorned in a soothing neutral palette, harmonizes with artwork by South African talents, adding a touch of local flair to this contemporary haven.
