Architecture Design of Lakeshore Residence

Description About The Project

Lakeshore Residence is a large dwelling located in the United States, designed by Miró Rivera Architects. The clients, originally from Gujarat, India, desired a home that could host extended visits from their family. While incorporating elements of their homeland’s rich traditions. The architects accomplished this by drawing on Indian architectural precedents, such as stone domes, step-wells, and temple towers, to blend subtle Indian influences with modern design.

The home is composed of white stone, copper outside, and warm makore and pearwood accents throughout the interior. Also, glass stairs and a second-floor walkway connect the public and private spaces. Also, allowing light to penetrate the double-height space of the gallery. Water features were also an essential aspect of the project, with views of the lake incorporated into nearly all interior and exterior spaces. A 5,000 sq ft pond off the master bedroom and terrace and a large reflecting pool surrounding the foyer, office, and puja room cascade into smaller reflecting ponds and fountains that greet visitors.

Indeed, the architects were involved in aesthetic choices at all scales, from designing the home and spaces to selecting china patterns. Custom-designed elements include a dining table, swings, and built-in bedroom furniture made of pearwood. In addition to this, the combination of traditional Indian influences and modern design, along with the incorporation of water features, creates a unique and welcoming environment that accommodates extended family visits while paying homage to the clients’ heritage.

The white stone that extends throughout the home, which was extremely important to the owner, is reminiscent of many of the great historical buildings of India. The architects responded with a composition that combines white stone with copper outside and with wood inside.
