Architecture as an Elevated Dialogue with Nature

Casa Levita represents SDH Studio Architecture + Design’s nuanced interpretation of contemporary tropical living—an architecture defined not by excess, but by balance, restraint, and a deep sensitivity to its natural setting. Conceived as a home that appears to hover within a lush garden canopy, the residence unfolds through a sequence of horizontal planes, sculptural vertical elements, and tiered volumes that dissolve the boundary between built form and landscape.

“We wanted the house to feel as though it was gently lifted by the landscape rather than imposed upon it,” the architects at SDH Studio explain. “Casa Levita is about lightness—visually, spatially, and experientially.”

The architecture is grounded in a calm material language of warm wood, soft limestone, and textured concrete. These materials anchor the house to its site while allowing greenery, daylight, and shadow to animate the surfaces throughout the day.

A Serene Arrival and the Language of Calm

The experience of Casa Levita begins with a deliberate moment of transition. A tranquil water feature guides visitors toward the entrance, while a floating walkway heightens the sensation of arrival. This choreography slows movement and sets the emotional tone of the home—quiet, composed, and contemplative.

Inside, expansive glazing opens the primary living spaces to layered garden views. Rather than acting as static rooms, the living, dining, and lounge areas flow outward, merging seamlessly with terraces and shaded outdoor rooms.

Floating Volumes and Vertical Landscapes

One of Casa Levita’s defining features is its integration of greenery as an architectural element. Lush planters wrap each level, forming a vertical garden canopy that softens the home’s strong geometry and gives the residence its name. These planted edges blur the distinction between floor and garden, creating a sense that the house is suspended within foliage.

Upper floors project outward through carefully calibrated cantilevers, anchored by a sculptural column that becomes both structural and symbolic. These projections form sheltered outdoor rooms and panoramic viewpoints, offering privacy while maintaining a continuous relationship with the surrounding landscape.

“The planted terraces are not decorative additions,” the architects emphasize. “They are integral to the architecture, shaping light, privacy, and the emotional experience of each space.”

Interior–Exterior Continuity as a Way of Living

Throughout Casa Levita, the relationship between interior and exterior remains fluid and intentional. Retractable glass walls allow social spaces to open completely to the outdoors, transforming terraces and lounges into extensions of the interior.
