Architecture Design of House Boz

Description About The Project

House Boz, the recipient of the Lafarge Award for Best Architectural Use of Decorative Concrete in South Africa 2013, as well as the Overall Award for Best Concrete Work in 2013, stands as a testament to innovative design and harmonious integration with nature. The client’s vision for a luxurious, spacious four-bedroom residence constructed with steel, glass, and concrete was brought to life with a particular focus on the living areas.

Inspired by its vast, natural surroundings, the design of House Boz evokes the essence of a bush lodge while seamlessly translating into a contemporary home. The architecture accentuates the connection between the indoors and outdoors through thoughtful material selection and spatial relationships. Natural materials and earthy tones dominate the aesthetic, with hand-cut quartzite rock from the site used for gabion landscape walls and stone cladding, complemented by strategically placed rusted steel boxes that blend the house into its landscape.

Inside, M Square Lifestyle Design used various natural materials to create a cohesive and raw aesthetic, featuring in situ-concrete, quartzite cladding, and rusted mild steel. M Square Lifestyle Necessities curated interior pieces that enhance this natural palette, including selections from Molteni & C, Horm, Fantoni, Fontana Arte, Tom Dixon, and Foscarini, ensuring the interior spaces are as striking and harmonious as the exterior.
