Architecture Design of House Mot

Description About The Project

House Mot designed by Nico van der Meulen Architects, nestled in the coalfield town of Secunda, Mpumalanga. This house embodies compact modernity tailored for family living. Its open-plan layout seamlessly integrates indoor and outdoor spaces, extending onto exterior terraces for fluid living. The focal point, a serene swimming pool area, merges with a covered patio featuring an integrated boma and fire pit, perfect for hosting gatherings.

The architectural flair extends to the first floor with exposed cantilevered concrete fins, shielding the interior from harsh western sun exposure. Balcony planters soften the concrete’s austerity, while aluminum screens ensure privacy in bathroom spaces.

A monolithic entrance court sets a solid tone with exposed concrete aesthetics, leading to a fully glazed entrance that unveils the interior gradually, offering glimpses of the striking feature staircase and interior design.
