Wedge House by Facade, White Prisms Reshaping the Landscape of Lefkada
Architecture Design of Wedge House
Description About The Project
Explore Wedge House by Facade in Lefkada, Greece — a striking pair of triangular white prisms inspired by Homer’s “White Stone,” seamlessly merging architecture, terrain, and myth.
The Project “Wedge House” Information:
- Project Name: Wedge House
- Location: Geni, Leukada, Greece
- Area: 270 m²
- Designed by: Façade
Mythology and Geometry Intertwined
In Lefkada, Greece, Wedge House emerges as a radical architectural gesture inspired by Homer’s reference to the island as “White Stone” in the Odyssey. The project draws from this mythic imagery, translating it into sharp triangular prisms whose white surfaces echo the glowing cliffs at sunset. These forms appear to cut into the rocky terrain like wedges, creating new grounds and volumes that simultaneously disrupt and reconcile with the natural landscape.
As the design team explained to Luxury Houses Magazine: “The wedge is both a violent and conciliatory gesture—it cuts into the terrain but also generates new soil and new conditions for living.”

A Composition of White Prisms
The complex consists of two identical houses, both conceptually and morphologically aligned. Each prism functions as a shell and structural ground, defining the relationship between interior, semi-outdoor, and subterranean spaces. The geometry of the North-South orientation and the articulation of acute and obtuse angles dictate the form, giving the prisms their sculptural intensity.
These white prisms hover and embed into the earth, at once monumental and sensitive, creating a new topography of habitation.

Day and Night Divided by Form
Within the main residence, known as the V-House, spaces are structured in a linear sequence beneath the prism. Daytime activities—living, dining, and gathering—are clearly divided from nighttime retreats, with the triangular geometry acting as a natural filter between zones. This separation creates a spatial rhythm of openness and enclosure, light and shadow.
The guesthouse, by contrast, is almost entirely subterranean. It follows the same wedge geometry but is embedded deeper into the site, offering privacy and intimacy while maintaining conceptual unity with the main house.

Between Violence and Harmony
Though the wedge-shaped prisms may appear as forceful interventions, the architecture reveals a subtle balance between aggression and integration. The white shells follow the contours of the terrain, generating terraces, voids, and new grounds where habitation unfolds. In this way, the design embraces the paradox of creating through disruption.
One of the architects noted in conversation with Luxury Houses: “Architecture here is not only about shelter—it is about rewriting the terrain. The wedges are tools that reveal new possibilities of inhabiting the cliffside.”

A Radical Statement on Lefkada’s Cliffs
With Wedge House, Facade pushes the boundaries of contemporary residential design in Greece. By drawing from mythology, geometry, and the raw physicality of the site, the project creates homes that are both rooted in history and radically modern. The white prisms stand as sculptural icons, embodying the duality of violence and harmony, disruption and belonging.
As published in Luxury Houses Magazine, Wedge House is more than a residence—it is a dialogue between myth, matter, and landscape.
