Architecture Design of Residência RRD 04
Description About The Project
Residência RRD 04 designed by Paulo Henrique Paranhos, nestled within a vast residential expanse, this residence embodies a harmonious integration with its natural surroundings. Rather than imposing on the landscape, the architecture embraces the existing cerrado species, ensuring their preservation amidst future developments.
Eschewing the typical urban typology of separate houses and paved streets, the design fosters a communal environment where greenery intertwines with pedestrian-friendly pathways. Concrete elements blend seamlessly with stone walls and masonry, minimizing the visual impact of the structure.
The two-story house delicately balances its volumes, with the ground floor nestled amidst verdant foliage and the upper floor adorned with opaque gables for solar protection. Floor-to-ceiling windows afford panoramic views of the surrounding greenery and Canjerana stream reserve.
The entrance, marked by a spacious walkway beneath a concrete portal, invites exploration into the social heart of the home. Flexible spaces, including a TV room and office, cater to diverse needs, while a wood panel seamlessly integrates the kitchen and dining areas with the expansive living space.
Structurally, reinforced concrete forms the backbone of the residence, accentuated by cantilevers and transparent glass slits to enhance the sense of lightness. The social areas seamlessly transition to the outdoor living space, complete with a veranda and pool nestled within the lush landscaping.
Despite its verticality, the design ensures a seamless integration with the surrounding greenery, preserving the bucolic charm of the region.

The Residência RRD 04 Gallery:
Text by the Architects: This house is built on a large residential plot of land that accommodates four buildings. All species of the cerrado still preserved endorse the idea of taking care so that this bucolic environment is preserved after the future buildings and some paved external areas are built. From the beginning, in all interventions, we sought to avoid that the future residential complex would be configured as a group of four houses separated by streets and sidewalks completely paved as are the typologies of the limited lots in the large Brazilian cities. In this way, the created urbanism is not only defined by streets and sidewalks, but by a wide area where greenery and pavements are used for the enjoyment of pedestrians, wheelchair users, children in squares, and winding paths in mosaics and designs harmonized with the previously existing natural species and the newly implanted ones.
