Prominent Sky house located in the the Hollywood hills neighborhood of Los Angeles, known for impressive houses and celebrity residents. This house was designed by XTEN architects, whose philosophy is the house as a land art to design strong sculptural forms at the scale of the landscape. Indeed, it includes a small one-story, windowless, white-plastered steel-framed volume and emerges eerily from a grassy knoll. The site for the Prominent Sky house slopes from north to south with a 15-foot difference in elevation. Also, the house is tucked into the hillside. So, it offers a very stunning view opens up of the green canyons to the west, and the city and Pacific Ocean to the south.

For external, the smooth white plaster volumes appear with the grass knoll surrounded. Like they are emerging from the landscape on the north and float above board formed concrete walls. Once inside, main living area resides at the center of the house. The living room extends to an exterior terrace with a white plaster infinity pool and wonderful patio to enjoy outside spaces. Besides, the full height sliding glass doors pocket away, connecting the living room and open family area, dining room, kitchen, bathroom, bedroom to the pool terrace, creating one contiguous indoor/outdoor area. Without a doubt, this house is very great house which combined luxurious living space and stunning views of outside landscape.

Prominent Sky House with Grassy Knoll Surrounded by XTEN Architecture — The house appears like a prominent box with white plaster walls and grass surrounding. Hence, it creates an enjoyable and romantic feeling.

A dark wooden cabinet with many wine bottles on the shelf is also the highlight of the room.

A sky lighted switchback stair takes you down to a home theater, bar, and a gym and bedroom sharing a patio—plus the garage.

Description: The site for the SKYHOUSE slopes from north to south with a 15-foot difference in elevation. The house is tucked into the hillside, taking advantage of the inherent thermal qualities of the earth. The smooth white plaster volumes appear as if they are emerging from the landscape on the north and float above board formed concrete walls that lead to a sunken garage to the south. The house is organized by a series of offset volumes, whose placement and relationship to one another define a negative space flowing seamlessly between them and out into the landscape.
