Jubilee Terraces Residence designed by Spacefiction Studio, harmoniously blend of design and nature Nestled in the upscale neighborhood of Jubilee Hills in Hyderabad, India, this unique residence stands out in a landscape dominated by opulent yet contextually insensitive structures. Unlike its counterparts, this house embraces the undulating terrain, rocky surroundings, and the majestic presence of Yellow flame trees, creating a harmonious blend of design and nature.

The 160-foot-long site, with sloping sides facing north and south, provides an ideal canvas for a cascading terrace design. The house unfolds with a grand foyer featuring an overhanging garden and skylights, leading to the lower levels centered around a voluminous pool area. The upper levels stagger back, forming north-facing terraces reminiscent of India’s undulating paddy fields, adorned with lush landscaping.

The architectural masterpiece features a central volume with double-height areas and a sculptural staircase illuminated by strategically placed skylights. Inert white marble dominates the palette, complemented by beige lime plaster and brass accents, creating a timeless aesthetic. The interiors showcase a play of light, with biophilic landscapes enhancing the visual and sensory experience.

This residence, a celebration of design sensitivity and environmental integration, redefines luxury with a focus on enduring elegance and a connection to the natural surroundings.

Jubilee Terraces Residence in India by Spacefiction Studio

A sculptural staircase bends sinuously in the chiaroscuro, whose shape-shifts with the skylights overhead, fanning out to the first-floor living room. There are three bedrooms, two on the first floor and a third on the second, all peeking into the central volume through introspective windows.

Text by the Architects: Jubilee Hills is a hilly, up-market residential neighborhood in Hyderabad, India. It is filled with large, opulent residences, most of which are more vanity projects of its influential inhabitants than climate or context-sensitive structures. As such, every building, in an attempt to appear distinct and more striking in its immediate surroundings, made this neighborhood an amalgamation of a misfit mix of architectural styles from every when and where. Character, if any, comes from the undulating hilly roads, the rocky terrain, and the consistent presence of large trees, especially the Yellow flame trees (Peltophorum pterocarpum), compared to the other neighborhoods of Hyderabad.
