Architecture Design of RD 40 House

Description About The Project

RD 40 House by Paweł Lis Architekci is a groundbreaking representation of contemporary Polish architecture. Nestled in a serene village near Warsaw, this modern cubic villa embodies a shift away from traditional Polish housing norms, embracing minimalist design principles and functional elegance.

Situated on a spacious 3,000 m² plot, the 500 m² residence is crafted for a family of three and their pets. The home’s design, influenced by modernist simplicity, forgoes the classic motifs of Polish manor houses, such as colonnades and sloping roofs, in favor of clean lines and open spaces. The L-shaped layout integrates seamlessly with the natural surroundings, creating a private courtyard bathed in sunlight and oriented toward the southern garden.

The ground floor features interconnected living spaces, including a living room with 3.5-meter-high ceilings, a dining area with double-height ceilings (6.5 meters), a study, a fitness room, a guest room, and a state-of-the-art kitchen. A custom 7-meter-wide garage door, inspired by avionics hangars, enhances the home’s modern appeal. Upstairs, the private quarters include a master suite with a walk-in closet and bathroom, a children’s room with similar amenities, and a mezzanine overlooking the living area and garden.

Energy efficiency and sustainability are key elements of the design, achieved through advanced materials, triple-glazed windows, PIR insulation panels, and solar panels with energy storage. The façade features OSLO clinker tiles and architectural concrete, complemented by vertical wooden slats for texture. Large glass surfaces connect the interior to the exterior, blurring boundaries and fostering a harmonious relationship with nature.

Text by the Architects: RD 40 is a symbol of a change in thinking about Polish housing development. The changing world and, along with it, contemporary architecture in 21st-century Poland are forcing investors to change their ideas about this segment of development. This cubic villa, inheriting the simplicity of expression and a clear function from the era of modernism, was built in one of the villages near Warsaw.
