Architecture Design of Casa Na Romeira
Description About The Project
Casa Na Romeira, a creation by dp Arquitectos that transcends mere architecture to shape its own existence on the outskirts of Romeira, Santarém. This dwelling is more than just a physical structure; it is a thoughtfully organized, visually engaging, and purposeful space that carefully integrates with its surroundings. Accessible through a hidden path, the house encourages a deliberate journey, preserving privacy while offer glimpses of its design before reaching the entrance.
The architectural composition features multiple interconnected volumes, each with a distinct identity and function, embracing contemporary aesthetics and construction principles. The intentional fragmentation of the building into smaller, seemingly dematerialized elements contributes to its harmonious integration into the landscape. The design pays homage to the Portuguese rural landscape, drawing inspiration from the iconic “montes” and their informally positioned volumes that dominate the scenery.
“Casa Na Romeira” not only stands as a testament to architectural innovation. But also embraces its heritage by valuing formal themes rooted in the cultural context. It is a place where modern design meets the rustic charm of the past, create a unique living experience that resonates with purpose, meaning, and visual significance within the beautiful Santarém landscape.

Its access is not direct and immediate from the public road, but hidden. Going around the small hill where the house sits, you go up to the side of a small patch of holm oaks that has been fully preserved.

The Casa Na Romeira Gallery:
Text by the Architects: The house wants to model its own place on the outskirts of Romeira, in Santarém. It builds the existential, humanized and concrete place, because it is inhabited, structured with meaning and purpose. It is organized by enhancing visual alignments over the territory, in an urban and landscape perspective, simultaneously assuming itself as a possible visual reference.
